I am a 43 years old Registered Architect by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors in Kenya. I work with the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works. I joined the Ministry in March 2005 at the rank of Assistant Architect and I am currently at the rank of Chief Superintending Architect. My duties include design of government buildings, supervision of construction works, audit of existing buildings, participating on policy issues affecting the built environment. I was appointed as assistant Registrar of the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors in Kenya between 2011-2013 where I participated in activities involved in the regulation of practice of Architecture and Quantity Surveying in Kenya and the region. I also worked on secondment as Hospital Architect at Kenyatta National Hospital, the biggest referral and teaching hospital in East and Central Africa. As an Architect, I also undertake Architectural works from private clients since my employment terms allow. I graduated with Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Nairobi-Kenya in year 2004. To augment my knowledge I undertook a diploma in Project Management from the Kenya Institute of Management which I completed in the year 2009. I then enrolled for Master of Science in Public Policy and analysis at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in 2012 and graduated in year 2014. Motivated by Public Policy issues in class discussions, I enrolled for PhD in Development at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in year 2015 whose course work I successfully completed in 2016. I also presented a research proposal to the faculty panel and I was cleared for data collection in 2017. My thesis is at advanced stages of completion. Through the internet, I came across the Atlantic International University and fell in love with your ‘out of the box’ approach to education and I would therefore prefer a PhD offered by AIU. I have an ambition to undertake research work in future to enhance the current body of knowledge available in the world.
